This is the seventh (part B) segment of the World Record SDA run on Super Mario 64 DS. I am uploading special versions of the SDA videos just to show the file select screen too. This is what I've said in my run comments
Star 38: Toad Star 1 of 3
Talk to Toad, gets Star!!
Star 39: Hazy Maze Cave (HMC) A-MAZ-ING Emergency Exit
2 ways to get this star quickly, a triple jump as Luigi from the Black Block or a wall jump as Mario, As Luigi, I did the triple jump method and no screw ups were made.
Star 40: HMC: Navigating the Toxic Maze
With the Flower nearby I can use Luigi invisible powers to skip the toxic maze by first getting the flower then going to the left half of the course I can go through the invisible fence.
Star 41: HMC: Swimming Beast In The Cavern
This star went pretty well. I lost a few seconds as Capped Wario trying to prepare for a long jump because Wario is the slowest swimmer of the 4 and his Long Jump is a good time saver.
*The Out of Bounds shortcut is removed on the DS version.
* The star is now hidden inside the idle rock, you need Wario's physical power to break it and obtain the star that way.
Star 42: HMC: Watch for rolling rocks.
Very good and the star appears after a few seconds destroying the rolling rocks.
* This star is now hidden in one of the rolling rocks.
* To destroy these ones you need the Super Mushroom by becoming Wario and destroy the Black block in that area to obtain the power up.
Star 43: HMC: Metal-Head Wario Can move.
I think it's faster to get the Wario cap near the starting area mainly because the back track is minimal, and Wario's Long Jumps are not too slow. If I got it from the Beast I would lose loads of time on the swimming and going up the slope to get the Red ? Box.
Invisible Luigi can't go through these fence doors.
*The Ground Pound trick to hit the switch cannot be done on the DS version.
Star 44: HMC: Secret Switch Star.
This is another good star performance. The only improvement is to hit the switch then go back to Luigi (not the other way round) but I did the slower method mainly because if I screw up the triple jump, I got a bit more time to do it again on this late part of the segment.
Star 45: Behind the Waterfalls New star.
Quite a lengthy one and didn't do mainly Long Jumps in this area mainly because of the Flying Snifits shooting bullets and the rapid water currents that can push Luigi back.
*This new star replaces the Metal Cap Switch on the N64 version.
* Sadly the DS version requires entering the level twice to get everything the player needs (Red Coin star and the new/hidden star).

Super Mario 64 changes from N64 to DS part 1
First of many (4 or 5) parts of the changes made from the highly acclaimed game Super Mario 64.
This part starts of slow with:
Turning the game on.
File Select
Introduction sequence
Entering the Castle
and
N64 only stars that were replaced by new DS stars.
In case you are wondering the DS version has 2 Big Bob-Omb battles now. The one on here is brand new as Big Bob-Omb can chuck the small Bob-Ombs at you. The traditional toss challenge is still on here but it's later on now.
None of the N64 clips were recorded by me.
The DS clips were recorded by me except the DS rip of the Introduction which was made by IGN.

how do you grab bowser by the tale and swing him in super mario ds 64?
i need a little help idk how to beat bowser in the fist round bc i just got the game i kno it has something to do with the touch screen but what do i do?
Try to get up behind him, then grab his tail with and attack, or b button, depends which controller mode you're using. I suggest using the dual hand mode for easier maneuvering. When you've got a hold of his tail, keep holding b and swing him around and around using the touch screen making circles, and when you're ready to throw him, let go of b, and try to aim him so that he falls onto one of those spiky ball things around the rink. If he hit one, it propels him into the air and he lands on the platform somewhere. When you manage to throw him onto the spiky ball things three times, you will defeat him. it takes a lot of practise, but you'll get the hang of it eventually.

Kinect as a Nintendo controller on the PC
Proof of concept. Celebrating 25 years of Mario.
I programmed it to recognize my motions and passed the virtual button presses to the NES emulator. I could have placed a simulated keypad right in front of me that I can press with my hands, but I thought full body gestures were more in the spirit of Kinect. Of course, Mario isn't designed to be played like this, so this is really really hard.
Drivers using OpenKinect, NES emulation using FCEUX.

how do you get the metal cap in super mario 64 ds?
on every single site i go to it says that u need to go into hazy maze cave and go into the stage. i know where it is but it says that i should be in metal and there's a green switch. whenever i enter the stage i never have metal on me. Is it because i have super mario 64 ds instead of super mario 64? And if it is please tell me how to get it. Thanks
Wario gets the Metal cap from the ? box, so if you enter that part with wario and get the ? box, the flower that comes out will give you the metal cap.
